In past blog posts, I have shared snippets of information about some of my HFH team members. I am hesitant about sharing too much, because I would hate for any of them to feel that I was invading their privacy, but they were all so wonderful to be around! So, I will throw caution to the wind, keep a defense attorney on speed dial, and tell you a little bit about the team. As I have already mentioned, Dr. Joe and Linda Markee are the cornerstones of Haiti Foundation of Hope. (If you haven't already, check out the website http://haitifoundationofhope.org) I had a couple of Skype meetings with them before the trip and met them in person at the Port au Prince airport. I spent most of the trip in utter awe of their commitment and energy...they accomplish more in retirement than most people fit in their entire lives! There were a number of HFH board members on the trip, including the Markee's son-in-law, Larry. What a score for me! Larry has a great perspective about HFH, Terre Blanche, and people in general. Beth is also on the board, as well as a volunteer for MTI (another site you should check out! http://www.medicalteams.org), and her compassion and inquisitiveness made my week. Ron, economist, agronomist and a bunch of other "ists", is the spearhead for the micro loan program and agriculture program. I could've used another week just to brainstorm with Ron about sustainable farming practices, making me nostalgic for my vet school days and farm work on Grenada. Steve, the super duper smarty pants, makes McGyver look like an idiot. He is also the poster child for the term "Heart of Gold". His wife, Joan, is a women's health specialist. Her two children, and their best friend, joined the team, and it warmed my heart to see all of them together as a family. Joan is the kind of woman that made me want to hug her every 5 minutes, and tell her how fantastic she is. Sarah, Matt, and Nick were the "youngsters" of the team, but only compared to us old folks! All three of them jumped in wherever they were needed, with energy, flexibility and humor. Katie, Michelle, and Chryssa, made up the nursing team. They were wonderful to be around, both in the clinic, and during our evening slumber parties in the "Gal's Room".  I felt so blessed to have been on this trip with these people. The hardest part of this trip for me was worrying about disappointing them! Here are WAY too many photos of the team...
