I am very sorry to share with you all that my trip to Haiti has been cancelled. MTI contacted me with the news this morning, and I have been quite down hearted all day, especially after speaking with some of my friends who are still going. The HFH (Haiti Foundation of Hope) Team is still planning on going, however, as a volunteer with MTI I am under different restrictions. Needless to say, HFH was not happy about this decision. Currently, there is a lot of unrest in Haiti, and specifically (PAP) Port Au Prince. The elections are always precarious, and they have been postponed yet again, which has led to an increase in protestors and potential violence. MTI has decided that it is not worth the risk to send volunteers to Haiti, especially since I would've been spending time in PAP. On the one hand, the reason I am so willing to travel alone to wherever MTI sends me, is because I know they make every attempt to always put my safety first.
