Hello, supporters, family and friends! Its hard to believe that it has been 6 months since my last post...so much has happened since you've last heard from me. When I last reached out, it was to tell you that my trip to Haiti had been cancelled by MTI, due to political unrest in Port au Prince and concern for my personal safety. If I have learned nothing else in life, it's that there is always a plan for you, even if you have no idea what it is! I was heartbroken over the cancellation of my trip, but I kept reminding myself that I just didn't know The Plan. Well, since then, I have faced a serious health scare with my mom, quit my job in Montana, sold my house in Tennessee, moved back to Washington, and become a Traveler in my field. Go Big, or Go Home...right?!? Becoming a Traveler is something that has always been in the back of my mind, since graduating from Ultrasound School, and it just so happens that it's a perfect fit with my medical missions. The contracts are typically 13 weeks long, with job opportunities all over the US. I'm hoping to time my contracts so that I can take my mission trips in between jobs, which is right on target, so far. I'm currently working for Whidbey General, on Whidbey Island, Washington, and I'm not exaggerating when I say that I feel like I've won the Traveler Lottery. I'm surrounded by beautiful scenery, friendly people, charming island towns, and I'm within a couple hours drive of my family. I've been in contact with MTI and I am returning to Honduras in October, and will be returning to Haiti next March. There has also been talk of me going to Africa next year! I'll be talking with MTI about all of the details, and keeping you in the loop as I go along. Thanks for hanging in there with me, and as always, I am grateful for your support! ox
