Exactly one month from today, I will be headed back to Haiti. Didn't I just return from Honduras? Just a couple of days ago?!? There are some exciting additions to this trip, compared to the prior two trips. One addition, is that I have been asked to give an Ultrasound presentation at the Medical Conference in Terre Blanche. I will be giving a Power Point lecture about the beneficial uses of Diagnostic Ultrasound in Haiti, with a focus on diagnosing TB/HIV and other common illnesses found there. I'm really looking forward to doing this, and hopefully I will be able to use this presentation on future trips at other locations for MTI. I will also be extending my trip by 3 days, in order to travel to a different location to take photographs and collect personal stories for MTI. After my trip to Honduras, I put together two photo books, one for Haiti and one for Honduras, and gave them as gifts to my Team Coordinators at MTI. They, in turn, showed my books to the head of Marketing and Development, who asked if I would be interested and willing to take photographs for them. These stories and photographs will be used to get continued financial support for the various projects MTI has in Haiti. Unless you are new to my story, and this blog, you know how thrilled I am at the opportunity for more adventure! I will be passed on to an MTI Haitian team, spend Sunday evening In Port Au Prince, then head to another remote area where MTI have established Community Health programs. In the mean time, I am still churning with ideas of how I can go on more trips, help more people, do more! Surely, there must be a way for me to discover some kind of consistent sponsorship to cover the costs of these trips...I just have to make it so! If any of you faithful followers have any ideas or suggestions, please share them with me! My email is joahsarc@hotmail.com<mailto:joahsarc@hotmail.com>, and as always, I am so very grateful for your emotional and financial support. More to come, as my departure date gets closer... :)
